As per governing authority’s decision, every franchise will be allowed to retain five players. But the retention of five players takes place in two combinations:
- Three pre-auction retentions & two Right to match cards.
- Two pre-auction retentions & three RTM cards.
If a franchise does not wish to retain any of players? Well, its completely on the franchise owners but that does not allow the franchise to have five RTM cards. No franchise can use more than three RTMs.
Moreover, while retaining the players, franchise need to keep the following criteria’s in mind. Every franchise can retain –
- Maximum of three Capped Indian players.
- Maximum of two Overseas players.
- Maximum of two Uncapped Indian players.
Right to match card (RTM)
