IPL 2025: Vaibhav Suryavanshi At just 16 years of age, he has joined the race to become the youngest player to be signed by an IPL franchise.
His base price was Rs 30 lakh, but after a fierce bidding war between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals, the Royals signed him for a huge amount.
This success of Vaibhav Suryavanshi has not come by itself. His recent performances have brought him into the limelight. In a match against Australia U-19 team in Chennai, he scored 104 runs in just 62 balls. This record was enough to make him the youngest player to score a century in an international youth match.
While on one hand, Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s name is being included in every discussion of the IPL, on the other hand, he is currently focusing on his game in the U-19 Asia Cup. India face arch-rivals Pakistan in Dubai on Saturday, and Vaibhav is excited about the contest.
In an interview with Sony Sports, Vaibhav said:
“I am managing the hype by focusing on my game. I don’t pay much attention to social media. At the moment, my focus is to do well in the Asia Cup and win the trophy.”His thinking not only shows his mental toughness but also shows that he is ready for bigger challenges.
Suryavanshi’s coach and teammates also believe that he is a big-match player. Whenever the team needs him, he gives his best. He recently made his debut for Bihar against Rajasthan in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
His stats also prove his worth. The player, who made his Ranji Trophy debut at the age of 12 years and 284 days, showed his talent at a very young age.
Vaibhav’s journey is not just limited to T20 and Ranji. He also performed well in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy. At the age of just 12, he played in this tournament for Bihar and surprised everyone by scoring about 400 runs. His achievement made it clear that he has a long way to go in cricket.
Vaibhav says he tries to keep his game as natural as possible. “Brian Lara is my idol. I try to play my innings like him. But I try to keep it as natural as possible. I try to repeat what I do during practice.”
