India’s pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar achieved a historic milestone in T20 cricket. On Saturday (November 23), he became the first Indian fast bowler to reach 300 wickets in T20s.
Bhuvneshwar achieved this feat while playing for Uttar Pradesh against Delhi in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The match was held at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. He reached the milestone by dismissing Delhi opener Yash Dhull for six runs in his second over of the game.
This was Bhuvneshwar’s first competitive match since IPL 2024, and he once again showed his class with the ball. Bhuvneshwar is now part of an elite group of Indian bowlers with 300+ T20 wickets.
Only spinners Yuzvendra Chahal (354), Piyush Chawla (314) and R. Ashwin (310) are ahead of him in this format. Known for his skill and consistency, Bhuvneshwar has been one of the best T20 pacers and a valuable player for the Indian cricket team.
Bhuvneshwar played T20Is for India from 2012 to 2022, taking 90 wickets in 87 matches. His last game for India was in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022 against England in Australia.
His T20 career began in the Champions League T20 in 2009 for Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Although he went wicketless in his debut conceding 31 runs in four overs against Delhi Daredevils. He soon became one of the top bowlers in the T20 format.
In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been one of the most successful bowlers, particularly among pacers. He is the highest wicket-taking fast bowler in the league with 181 wickets in 176 matches.
Bhuvneshwar was a crucial part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad team for 10 years. However ahead of the IPL 2025 auction the franchise decided not to retain him.
The IPL 2025 auction is scheduled to take place on November 24-25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Bhuvneshwar has set his base price at ₹2 crore. Considering his IPL record and impact he is expected to attract significant interest and a big bid from franchises.
