As the IPL 2025 mega auction approaches, Deepak Chahar’s name is buzzing among Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans. Even though CSK hasn’t retained him, Chahar is hopeful that the team will try to bring him back, just like they did in the last auction.
Chahar, a valuable player for CSK since 2018, had his last season cut short after eight games due to a groin injury. Ahead of the auction, CSK has retained five key players—Ruturaj Gaikwad as captain, Ravindra Jadeja, Matheesha Pathirana, Shivam Dube, and MS Dhoni.
Deepak Chahar trusts CSK will aim to bring him back in the IPL 2025 mega auction While CSK chose not to retain Chahar this time to keep Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana.
Chahar believes the franchise will go after him in the auction. He recalled how CSK made a bold bid of INR 14 crore to re-sign him in 2022.
“I wasn’t retained in the last mega auction either, but they went all out to buy me back. I don’t know what will happen this year, but I know my skill will be valued more now with Powerplay scores reaching around 90-100. Teams are scoring over 200 frequently, and I’ve shown my worth in limiting runs in those opening overs,” Chahar told The Times of India.
Deepak Chahar’s skill in controlling the run rate during the Powerplay has made him a valuable player for CSK. Although he hopes to return to Chennai, Chahar shared that he would also be interested in playing for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) if a CSK bid doesn’t work out.
Chahar is open to joining Rajasthan Royals (RR) if CSK doesn’t bid While he’s loyal to CSK, Chahar openly expressed his interest in joining the Rajasthan Royals (RR) if he doesn’t end up in the yellow jersey again. With his Powerplay skills and accuracy, he could spark a bidding war at the IPL 2025 auction.
