The Ajit Agarkar-led senior selection committee has announced the squads for the first round of the Duleep Trophy 2024-25. The tournament starts on September 5, and it does not feature prominent names like skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravichandran Ashwin this time around.
“The Men’s Selection Committee on Wednesday announced the squads for the first round of the Duleep Trophy, 2024-25. The Duleep Trophy, which marks the start of red-ball cricket in the domestic season, will see some of the best players from the international circuit and some young and emerging talents competing at the highest level.”

Team A will be led by Shubman Gill while Team B will be led by Abhimanyu Easwaran. Ruturaj Gaikwad will be the captain of Team C, while Shreyas Iyer will captain Team D.
Wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, who is making a comeback in his first red-ball assignment after the 2022 crash, will also play in this tournament.
Ishan Kishan, who was out of the Ranji Trophy after prioritising IPL, has also returned to the team. Mohammed Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja will be part of Team B while Kuldeep Yadav, KL Rahul and Shivam Dube will be part of Team A captained by Shubman Gill.
Also special in Team D is the presence of Akash Sengupta, who hails from Goalpara and is the second cricketer from Assam to feature in the tournament.
The Duleep Trophy matches will be held in Anantapur and Bengaluru. The BCCI also informed that the players selected for the Test series against Bangladesh will be replaced by other players.
