Many questions about Rishabh Pant’s future with the Delhi Capitals have been cleared up, as recent reports confirm that the Indian wicketkeeper-batter will stay with the team for the next season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
For months there was a lot of talk about Pant possibly moving to another team with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) seen as likely contenders. However, DC has made it clear that Pant is not going anywhere.
In a major decision, the Delhi franchise has reportedly made a big deal to keep Pant ensuring he will play for them in the upcoming IPL 2025 and putting an end to the rumors of his departure.
Aakash Chopra has put an end to the speculation, stating that Rishabh Pant is staying with the Delhi Capitals (DC). There were reports that Pant might join PBKS after former DC head coach Ricky Ponting switched to that team, especially after they congratulated Pant for scoring a century in the Chennai Test against Bangladesh.
On his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra said, “Rishabh Pant is not going anywhere. There were rumors that Rishabh and the Delhi Capitals were parting ways. Ricky Ponting has gone to Punjab Kings, so people thought Rishabh could join them, or maybe because he likes playing in Chennai a lot, it was assumed he might go to CSK.”
Chopra continued, “However, there’s a report on Cricbuzz saying that all the rumors should stop. Rishabh will be with the Delhi Capitals. A big deal has been finalized. Well done, Delhi; you’ve done a great job. Keep him with you; you won’t find anyone like him again.”
Chopra encouraged Pant to stay with Delhi and help them become champions, noting that many fans linked Pant to teams like PBKS due to his long history with Ponting at DC. He also mentioned how Pant’s admiration for CSK and MS Dhoni spread speculation about a possible move to CSK.
