Mayank Yadav’s bowling in the IPL 2024 season won the hearts of every cricket lover. This fast bowler of Lucknow Super Giants troubled the batsmen with his fast speed and accurate line length.
In particular, former India bowling coach Paras Mhambrey found Mayank’s dismissal of Australian all-rounder Cameron Green at 156 kmph to be the biggest highlight.
Despite this strong performance, he was not seen after that, and fans began to worry.
Speaking to The Indian Express, Mhambrey said,
“A wicket tells everything. Getting Green out was enough for me to say WOW! This guy is special.”
Showing the brilliance of Mayank’s fast bowling, he clocked 155 kmph on three consecutive balls before the fourth ball of the eighth over.
However, in IPL 2024, Mayank had to play only four matches and he bowled only 12.1 overs. He was ruled out for the rest of the season due to an abdominal strain. At the moment, he is not fully fit and has not been able to take part in the Duleep Trophy or the Delhi Premier League.
According to a Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) official, Mayank has been undergoing rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for the last three months and is expected to return.
Mayank’s mentor Narendra Negi said that the physios at the NCA are taking care of his fitness.
“His body is not suited for such fast bowling but he is a special talent. As per NCA guidelines, he has been asked to bowl 12-15 overs daily.”
Speaking on the road ahead, Mhambrey says Mayank needs to bowl more and play in first-class cricket.
“When you play a season, you understand your bowling better. Mayank will have to work hard in the domestic season so that he can prove his performance at the international level.”
These are challenging times for Mayank Yadav, but his talent and hard work will help him return to his highest level soon.
