Rahul Dravid starts a new career as coach of Rajasthan Royals
Recently, Dravid successfully ended his tenure as the coach of the Indian senior team by winning the 2024 T20 World Cup held in the West Indies and the USA.
Rahul Dravid’s cricketing career and coaching journey have both been deeply associated with Rajasthan Royals. Dravid played for Rajasthan Royals from 2011 to 2013 and also captained the team. Subsequently, for the 2014 season he became the mentor of the team and also served as a mentor with the Delhi Daredevils. His experience made him the coach of the senior men’s Indian team from 2021.
Dravid, along with Royals’ Director of Cricket Kumar Sangakkara, will now decide the direction of the team. “Rahul Dravid is one of the greats of the game. The achievements in his coaching over the last decade have been extraordinary. With his abilities, Rajasthan Royals will have a stronger challenge towards the title.”
Speaking about his return to the Royals, Dravid said: “I am delighted to be back at the franchise that I have called ‘home’ for the last so many years. After the World Cup, it’s the right time for me to take up a new challenge, and Royals is the perfect platform for that.”
“Given the talent and resources that the team has, it’s an exciting opportunity for us to take it to the next level. I am looking forward to starting this new journey.”
Now, Dravid will be in charge of the team’s retention and auction decisions once the rules are made public by the BCCI, which will decide the team’s direction for the upcoming season.
With Rahul Dravid’s new role, Rajasthan Royals fans are eagerly waiting for the team’s new plans and strategies.
