Fans are eagerly waiting to see the list of SRH Retained Players 2025 on 31 October following the Indian Premier League (IPL) Governing Council’s announcement of the anticipated rules for IPL 2025 Mega Auction.
While SRH aimed for more retained players, the new retention rule permits teams to retain only a total of 6 players from their current squad either through retention or by utilizing the Right to Match (RTM) card. This also allows teams the option to release all their players and use RTM cards at the auction.
However, certain conditions are in place for retained players. The retention is capped at a maximum of 5 capped players (which can be either Indian or overseas) and 2 uncapped players.
There’s a unique twist to the uncapped rule with the reintroduction of an old regulation after three years: a capped Indian player can be considered uncapped if he hasn’t played in international cricket or does not hold a Central Contract with the BCCI in the past five calendar years.

Participating in every IPL edition since their entry into the league back in 2013, SRH has only engaged in the retention process prior to three mega auctions, a stark contrast to the seven other teams that have been part of the league since its inaugural season.
Mega auctions have occurred in 2011, 2014, 2018 and most recently in 2022 – all of which have witnessed substantial changes among teams. Here’s a rundown of the players SRH retained prior to those mega auctions:
