Bangladesh captain Nazmul Hossain has made a big statement before the upcoming match of Bangladesh. “It’s going to be a tough match against India,” he said. But he is confident that after the win against Pakistan, he can play well in front of India’s strong team.
Bangladesh’s first Test against India starts in Chennai on September 19. The second match will be played in Kanpur on September 27. Following the Test series, Bangladesh will play three T20Is. The matches will be held in Gwalior on October 6, Delhi on October 9 and Hyderabad on October 12.
Earlier this month, Bangladesh defeated Pakistan 2-0 in Rawalpindi. That was a big thing. Now the Test team of Bangladesh has left for India. The T20 team will arrive later.
Nazmul spoke to reporters
“It’s going to be a tough series for us. But after playing well against Pakistan, there is a lot of confidence in our team and the people of the country.”
“Every series is an opportunity and we will play to win both the matches. We will focus on the things we have to do to win. The process is very important and we have to do our job properly.”
“If we can do our job properly, we can get good results. But it’s still going to be difficult. If you look at the rankings, they are far ahead of us. But we have played a good series recently. The most important thing is how we can play good cricket. The result comes in the last session of the fifth day. So if we play good cricket, we have a chance to do well in the last session.”
“It is very important what to plan to play well for five days. There will be a chance to win, but we should not think too far ahead. We should focus on our strengths and focus on how we can play good cricket.”
Nazmul also pointed out that the Bangladesh fast bowlers are less experienced than the Indian bowlers. But he insisted that his spinners can play well on any pitch. He also said that their success will depend on how they play as a team.
“Our spin and pace bowling is in good shape. But if you compare the teams, I think our fast bowlers are less experienced than them.”We are close to them in terms of spin. But in terms of experience I would put them ahead. But our spinners can bowl in any conditions. I can say this much that all the players, be it fast bowlers, spinners or batsmen, whoever plays, every player will give his hundred percent. When we play as a team, it can make a difference.”
Asked about his batting, Nazmul said
Nazmul’s batting form has been a concern for the team. In the two-Test series against Sri Lanka at home earlier this year, he scored just 32 runs, that too at an average of 8. Against Pakistan too, his batting was not up to the mark, scoring just 58 runs in three innings.
Bangladesh batting coach David Hemp recently told Cricbuzz that Nazmul is just one good innings away from finding his form.
“My personal goal is to make the Bangladesh team win. I think as a batsman I can contribute to the team. I have done all the preparations for it. Everything else is in God’s hands. I will try my best to contribute to the team.”
