Sanjay Bangar, who is currently the Head of Cricket Development at Punjab Kings, has revealed his team’s strategy for the IPL 2025 mega-auction.
He has hinted that Punjab Kings are planning to make the most of this opportunity if Mumbai Indians release their captain Rohit Sharma.
During a podcast, Sanjay Bangar was asked what would be Punjab Kings’ plans if Rohit Sharma is released by Mumbai Indians.

Bangar replied that it depends on the amount left with the franchise at that point of time. He also said that if that happens, Rohit Sharma will be bought at a “very high price.”
“It all depends on whether we have the money or not because if Rohit (Sharma) comes into the auction, I definitely believe he will be bought at a very high price,” Bangar said in a video posted on X (formerly Twitter).”
On this issue, experts believe that if Rohit Sharma joins Punjab Kings, it can greatly increase the team’s chances.
Rohit Sharma is the most successful captain in IPL history along with MS Dhoni, who has won five titles with Mumbai Indians and also recently led India to the T20 World Cup 2024 title.
However, Mumbai Indians have appointed Hardik Pandya as the captain for the first time this season, and Rohit’s batting form in the last IPL season has not been anything special.
Punjab Kings, which is one of the teams in the history of IPL that has not won any trophy so far, is working hard to build a strong team in IPL 2025.
Currently, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants are also in a similar situation.
