Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal has shared several important points during his interaction with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on the upcoming IPL mega auction.
Jindal revealed that the BCCI will take a final decision on the retention rules by the end of August.
According to Jindal, there are various opinions from the franchise owners—some owners want to retain 8 players while some want up to 10 players.
“Just to hear the different views from all the owners and the BCCI has listened to us and now they will tell us all the rules, hopefully by the end of August we will know the rules for the next cycle.
Some don’t, some don’t, some people want, some people want 8 to 10, some people want 4, some people want 6, it’s all up in the air. No, I think it depends on what the views are. We should take the views of some other owners as well,” he said.
Jindal’s opinion on the impact player rule was also clear. He said that he has a personal opinion against this rule.
He said, Discussion on Impact Player Rule? Impact Player Rule, again, different people have different views. Some people want it because it gives young players a chance to play in IPL. Some people don’t want it because it is detrimental to Indian cricket in terms of the development of all-rounders. So it is a mixed bag. I am in the other camp. I don’t want it. I like the game as it is, 11 vs 11.”
Apart from this, Jindal clarified that he wants a mega auction and completely rejects the demand for a small auction.
Regarding this, he said, “Yes, yes. Yes, yes. I was surprised. There was a debate on this. Some people said that there should be no mega auction at all. There should be only small auctions. I am not in that camp.”
The issue of rules and retention for the upcoming season of IPL is still being discussed, and Jindal’s comments have only added to the curiosity and debate.
Eyes of cricket lovers and franchise owners are now on BCCI, which is busy finalising the upcoming auction and rules.
