Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) chief and league chairman Rohan Jaitley recently made an exciting announcement about the inaugural season of the Delhi Premier League (DPL).
According to him, cricket stars Rishabh Pant, Navdeep Saini and Harshit Rana will be seen playing in this T20 tournament which will start in the second half of this month. This announcement has created a wave of excitement among cricket lovers, who are extremely excited about this new league.
DPL opening ceremony by Rohan Jaitley
270 players from across Delhi have been selected for the opening ceremony of this tournament to be held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. This event is a special occasion not only for cricket lovers but also for the players.
Rohan Jaitley said at the trophy’s opening ceremony on Friday, “Rishabh Pant, Navdeep Saini, Harshit Rana and other Indian players will participate in the inaugural season of DPL. I have spoken to Rishabh Pant and he has promised me to participate in the league, but it only depends on his availability and national commitments. But for now, he will play. Navdeep and Harshit will also participate in the league.”

Excitement of brand ambassador Virender Sehwag
Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag, the brand ambassador of this league, has also expressed his happiness. He said that this league is a great opportunity for those cricketers who did not get a chance in the IPL or the national team.
Sehwag said, “This league will definitely be a great opportunity for those players who work hard in the nets and did not get a chance in any big tournament. When I used to play in my younger days we did not get this kind of opportunity to play in different leagues. Now my son is playing and I am happy that he will get these opportunities, so yes it is a very good opportunity.”

Formats of Delhi Premier League (DPL)
The first season of DPL will have a total of 40 matches, including 33 in the men’s category and 7 in the women’s category.
Six franchise teams will participate in it, whose names are:
- West Delhi Lions
- North Delhi Strikers
- South Delhi Superstarz
- Old Delhi-6
- Delhi Kings
- East Delhi Riders
The competition between these teams will definitely provide a lot of entertainment to cricket lovers.
