Afghanistan’s premier cricketer Rashid Khan has missed out on the Big Bash League (BBL) draft for the 2024-25 season, making it the second consecutive year that he will not feature in the popular T20 league.
Rashid Khan, who was playing for Adelaide Strikers for the past few years, is known for his brilliant performances in the BBL. His absence has caused disappointment among the league’s fans.
Discussing the reasons for Rashid Khan’s absence, AAP has reported that his management has informed the Adelaide Strikers that they will be out of the tournament this season. However, there is no animosity between the Adelaide Strikers and Rashid Khan, and the team has expressed readiness to welcome him back next season.
On the other hand, Cricket Australia (CA) recently decided not to play a bilateral series against Afghanistan, citing the Taliban’s stance on women’s rights.
However, CA believes that Rashid Khan’s decision to not feature in the BBL draft has nothing to do with the rivalry between the national teams, and they attribute it to the player’s busy schedule.
In such a situation, Rashid Khan’s fans will be eagerly waiting for his next move, while his absence in the BBL will definitely affect the popularity of the league once again.
