Indian Cricketer Sarfaraz Khan who plays for the India National Cricket Team, has spoken out about not making the Test team, even though he has done well in the few chances he’s had.
Sarfaraz has played in 4 Test matches for India, scoring 350 runs with a remarkable average of 58.33 and a decent strike rate of 77.77, including one century and three fifties.
In the first Test of a three-match series against New Zealand Sarfaraz delivered his best performance on the field at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
After scoring nothing in his first innings he made a fantastic comeback in the second, playing impressive shots and challenging the Kiwi bowlers with his unique style.
He played two vital partnerships with Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant that turned the game in India’s favor. He put together 136 runs with Kohli on Day 3 and then 177 runs with Pant on Day 4 giving India a lead and setting a target of 107 runs for New Zealand.
“I stick to my routines and focus on what I can control,” Sarfaraz said after Day 4 of the match. He mentioned missing out on the India XI because of team choices. He added, “I continue doing what has worked for me over the years, keeping up with my practice, and fulfilling my team’s expectations. Conversations with my father also keep me motivated. Nothing changes in my approach,” as reported by RevSportz.
Regarding his first Test century for India, Sarfaraz expressed that it was a realization of his childhood dream. “It felt really good to score a century for my country, fulfilling a childhood dream,” he said.
Sarfaraz believes that even though New Zealand has a small target, chasing runs won’t be easy on the final day’s pitch. He said that if the team can get breakthroughs early tomorrow, they might find themselves in a similar spot to India.
