Indian wicket-keeper Ishan Kishan was not included in the Indian team from December 2023. He had taken a break due to mental health issues before the Test series in South Africa.
Subsequently, the BCCI had dropped him from the central contract list in February after he did not make himself available for the domestic season.
However, now there are hopes of Ishaan’s return to the Indian team. The BCCI selection committee has named him among the 61 players for the first round of the 2024 Duleep Trophy.
The domestic red-ball tournament will be played at Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh and M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru from September 5 to 24. This tournament can play an important role in the selection of the home Test series against Bangladesh.
BCCI issues notice to Ishan Kishan
BCCI secretary Jay Shah had given a strict order to Ishan stating that “he has to follow the rules.” He has to play domestic cricket.”
After this, Ishan Kishan recently performed brilliantly in the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament. Playing for Jharkhand Cricket Association, he scored 114 runs against Madhya Pradesh and led his team to a big win.
Now if Ishan performs well in the Duleep Trophy, his chances of returning to the Indian team for the Bangladesh series may increase.
