Former South African cricketer and India’s new bowling coach Morne Morkel faced some challenges before the T20I series against Bangladesh began. The Indian team held their first practice session for the series where all-rounder Hardik Pandya was working on his bowling.
However, Morkel was not satisfied with how Hardik was bowling and the two talked at length about what needed to be improved. Reports indicated that Hardik was bowling too close to the stumps, which Morkel didn’t like.
During the practice in Gwalior, Morkel focused on Pandya’s run-up while he was practicing his bowling action. It was mentioned that Morkel expressed his concerns about Hardik’s technique and gave him feedback.
Morkel, who usually doesn’t say much, often spoke to Hardik each time he returned to bowl, and he also worked on improving Hardik’s release point.
After working with Hardik, Morkel turned his attention to left-arm bowler Arshdeep Singh and newcomers Harshit Rana and Mayank Yadav, who were both making their first appearances for India in the T20I series.
India recently won 2-0 against Bangladesh in the Test matches, and now they are preparing for a 3-match T20I series starting Sunday.
Young players like Harshit Rana and Mayank Yadav are eager to show their skills again after impressing in the IPL having been selected by the BCCI.
Other players such as Abhishek Sharma, Rinku Singh, Riyan Parag, and Nitish Kumar Reddy will also be looking to take advantage of this chance, while this series provides a second opportunity for spinner Varun Chakravarthy, who hasn’t played in T20Is for a long time.
