Former India captain MS Dhoni has been a revelation for Team India. Rajesh Kumar Maurya, a resident of Amethi in Uttar Pradesh, has filed a complaint against Dhoni under Rule 39 of the BCCI Ethics Committee.
Maurya alleged that Dhoni was involved in a dispute of Rs 15 crore with his former business partners Mihir Diwakar and Arka Sports and Management Limited.
What’s the case?
An agreement was reached between Dhoni and Mihir Diwakar in 2017, under which it was decided to set up a global cricket academy. However, due to Diwakar’s non-compliance with the conditions, Dhoni cancelled the letter of authorisation given to Aarka Sports.
After this, Dhoni sent a legal notice, but there was no response. On 20 March 2024, the Civil Court of Ranchi found the case to be correct and summoned Diwakar, Soumya Das, and Arka Sports.
Action Taken by BCCI
The BCCI has directed Dhoni to file an official response to Rajesh Kumar Maurya’s complaint by August 30, 2024. Maurya has been given time till September 16, 2024 to give an official response to Dhoni’s reply.
Meanwhile, Dhoni’s lawyer claims that Aarka Sports opened seven cricket academies misusing Dhoni’s name, but Dhoni did not get any benefit from it.
The incident sent shockwaves among Indian cricket fans and the media. There has been no further statement from either side yet, but the wait for an official response from MS Dhoni continues.
