Glenn Maxwell and Other Released Players
Punjab Kings have decided to release Glenn Maxwell from their squad. Maxwell played only seven matches last season for the team. His performance was really disappointing, with just 48 runs total.
Things got worse when Maxwell scored single digits four times in a row. His highest score was only 30 runs the entire season. Then he broke his finger midway through IPL 2025. That injury kept him out for the remaining matches.
PBKS will also release Aaron Hardie, Kyle Jamieson, and Kuldeep Sen. Praveen Dubey and Josh Inglish are leaving too. These men are good to go by the finalist from last season. Jamieson took five wickets in four games, but it wasn’t enough. These stars barely made any impact for the Punjab Kings.
PBKS Retained Players For IPL 2026
Now let’s talk about who’s staying with the team! PBKS retained their captain Shreyas Iyer for another season. Star pacer Arshdeep Singh will continue wearing the Punjab Kings’ jersey. Young talent Nehal Wadhera will stay too.
Shashank Singh impressed everyone last year, and he’s staying back. Priyansh Arya will play for them again in IPL 2026. Wicketkeeper Prabhsimran Singh also made the list. These guys form the core of the team’s future plans.
Interestingly, Mitchell Owen will stay despite his poor debut performance. He doesn’t perform well in a few matches given to him. But they believe in his Big Bash League form. The retention shows that the Punjab Kings are thinking long-term about their squad.
The IPL 2026 auction will decide who joins these stars. Punjab Kings need to build a balanced team this time around.
