Sairaj Bahutule joins Punjab Kings as their new spin bowling coach before IPL 2026 starts. The franchise announced this appointment today replacing Sunil Joshi who left after two seasons. Bahutule brings tons of experience working with young spinners across India and IPL teams.

Why Did Punjab Kings Choose Sairaj Bahutule?
Sairaj Bahutule joins Punjab Kings after doing excellent work with the Rajasthan Royals in the past seasons. He coached spinners in Bengal, Kerala, Vidarbha and Gujarat developing raw talent into match-winners.
Sunil Joshi worked with Punjab from 2023 to 2025, but both parties decided moving on. CEO Satish Menon thanked Joshi for his contributions during those two years publicly. The franchise wanted fresh ideas for IPL 2026.
Bahutule knows how to get the best out of spinners struggling with form. He understands modern T20 cricket where spinners face constant pressure from big hitters everywhere. Punjab Kings desperately need their spinners to perform better than in the last few IPL seasons.
What Did Bahutule Say About Joining?
Sairaj Bahutule joins Punjab Kings feeling excited about the team’s potential. He believes the squad has quality players who just need better guidance and planning.
“I’m really excited to join Punjab Kings as a spin bowling coach for the upcoming IPL season. This is a team that plays a different brand of cricket, and I can see the potential is massive. They have a bunch of talented players, and I’m looking forward to working with them to refine their skills and help them reach new heights,” Bahutule said.
Punjab Kings Coaching Setup for IPL 2026
Ricky Ponting remains the head coach, leading Punjab’s entire coaching staff for IPL 2026. Brad Haddin handles wicket-keeping duties while James Hopes works with the fast bowlers. This Australian trio helped Punjab reach last season’s final against all expectations previously.
Adding Bahutule strengthens their coaching department even more now heading into the auction soon. Punjab wants to build a balanced squad that can challenge for titles consistently. The franchise believes this coaching team can finally deliver their maiden IPL trophy next year.
