The Pakistan cricket team has finally made headlines for the right reasons. After facing criticism for poor performances the 1992 World Champions bounced back defeating England to win the three-match Test series 2-1.
This marks the first time Pakistan has won a three-match Test series after losing the first match since their victory over Zimbabwe in 1995. Pakistan secured a nine-wicket win in the third Test in Rawalpindi thanks to spinners Sajid Khan and Noman Ali.
Following this big win Pakistan’s captain Shan Masood spoke with former PCB chief Ramiz Raja. However this conversation drew criticism as Ramiz seemed to mock Masood for the victory after Pakistan had previously lost six Tests in a row.
“There are two things you’ll see: one is how to play on seaming conditions, and the other is if this is just a one-time thing. How did you manage this after six losses in a row?” Ramiz questioned.
Though surprised by the comment, Masood responded calmly, saying, “Ramiz bhai, we needed this win. The nation needed this win, and I am really happy for Pakistan.”
Ramiz continued, joking about one of Masood’s shots, asking if he planned to control it. Masood replied confidently, “Yes, I will be able to control it, Ramiz bhai.”
This exchange went viral, with fans on social media criticizing Ramiz for being insensitive towards the Pakistan captain. In the game itself, Noman and Sajid took all 10 of England’s wickets, bowling them out for 112, as Pakistan clinched victory before lunch on day three.
Shan Masood hit five boundaries in six balls, smashing Shoaib Bashir over the ropes to seal Pakistan’s first home Test series win since defeating South Africa in February 2021.
