Mumbai Indians stayed busy making trades before the IPL 2026 mini-auction starts soon. The five-time champions brought in some players while letting others go completely. MI now has just Rs 2.75 crore left for buying new talent later.

Mumbai Indians Released Players List for IPL 2026
- Reece Topley
- Krishnan Shrijith
- Satyanarayana Raju
- Bevon Jacobs
- Arjun Tendulkar
- Lizaad Williams
- Raj Bawa
- Karn Sharma
- Vignesh Puthur
The Mumbai Indians released players 2026 list includes some surprising names this time around. Arjun Tendulkar got traded to Lucknow Super Giants after spending years with MI. Sachin Tendulkar’s son made his debut back in 2023.
Satyanarayana Raju left the squad along with wicketkeeper KL Shrijeet too unfortunately. Afghan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman also got released despite being a quality overseas option. These released players didn’t get enough chances to prove themselves over time.
MI picked Arjun in the 2021 auction but he hardly played any matches for them. Sometimes, franchises give opportunities to young players but things just don’t work out. The released players for next season will now look for fresh starts elsewhere maybe.
Mumbai Indians’ Big Trades for IPL 2026
MI grabbed Shardul Thakur from Lucknow Super Giants in a smart trade. Thakur brings useful batting down the order along with medium-pace bowling skills. Sherfane Rutherford came from Gujarat Titans to add more firepower to MI’s lineup.
The team also brought back Mayank Markande who left them years ago for other franchises. This leg-spinner played for Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad before coming home to MI. Markande started his IPL career wearing the MI jersey way back then.
These trades show they want experienced players for IPL 2026 battles ahead. Getting familiar faces back sometimes works better than buying completely unknown overseas players.
Who Stays With Mumbai Indians
Hardik Pandya continues as captain despite last season’s poor results. Rohit Sharma stays as a senior player and mentor for the younger guys in the dressing room. Suryakumar Yadav remains their middle-order superstar who wins games single-handedly often enough.
Jasprit Bumrah keeps leading their pace attack because nobody bowls yorkers better than him. These retained stars form MI’s backbone going into the next season strongly.
Teams can keep 25 players total while managing Rs 120 crore purse money. MI used most of their budget already, so they’ll be careful in auctions.
