What Happened in WPL 2025?

In 2025, Mumbai Indians (MI) claimed their 2nd Women Premier League title with a thrilling 8-run win over Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Brabourne Stadium.

Batting first after being put in, MI posted 149/7, thanks to a crucial 66 off 44 balls from skipper Harmanpreet Kaur. She stitched an 89-run stand with Nat Sciver-Brunt, rescuing the innings after early setbacks.

Delhi Capitals’ chase got off to a poor start, losing Lanning and Shafali Verma early. While Jemimah Rodrigues (30 off 21) and later Marizanne Kapp (40 off 26) kept the scoreboard ticking, regular wickets hurt DC’s momentum.

Kapp’s partnership with Niki Prasad brought them close, but the game turned in the 18th over when Sciver-Brunt dismissed Kapp and Shikha Pandey in two balls. Needing 14 in the last over, DC couldn’t get past MI’s tight bowling.
